We offer:

  • Full-time + on-demand care
  • Flexible membership options
  • A thoughtfully designed, tech-enabled space
  • Strong staff support, paid benefits, and real career pathways
  • A collaborative, parent-forward community

We are actively growing, with a second Downtown Birmingham location opening in April 2026 and expanded capacity in Homewood in May 2026. If you thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and love working with infants and toddlers, this role was built for you.

The Role

The Flex Lead Teacher is a full-time, schoolwide role designed for an experienced educator who thrives in dynamic environments and loves working with children across all age groups (12 weeks–5 years).

This is not a traditional “sub” role—this is a trusted, go-to lead teacher who ensures consistency, quality, and care across classrooms each day.

You will:

  • Step into infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms to maintain ratios and continuity of care
  • Serve as a reliable lead when core teachers are off during their 4-day work week
  • Support classroom flow during high-traffic times (arrival, transitions, meals, rest)
  • Bring calm, confident energy to new environments each day
  • Build relationships with children and teachers across the entire school

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Loves working with a variety of ages—from babies to preschoolers
  • Enjoys something new each day and thrives in change
  • Is highly adaptable, observant, and confident stepping into different classrooms
  • Takes pride in being a team player and problem solver
  • Wants a full-time role with consistency + variety

Key Responsibilities

🌿 Nurturing Care & Supervision

  • Provide attentive, responsive care across all age groups (infants–preschool)
  • Support safe sleep, diapering, toileting, and hygiene routines
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times in safe, engaging environments
  • Comfort and co-regulate children using developmentally appropriate strategies

Classroom Leadership & Support

  • Step in as acting lead teacher when needed
  • Maintain state-required ratios (1:3 infants, 1:5 toddlers, 1:8 preschool)
  • Support daily classroom routines including meals, naps, and transitions
  • Set up, facilitate, and reset classroom materials and environments
  • Ensure consistency in expectations, flow, and care across classrooms

Development & Play

  • Engage children in sensory-rich, play-based, and inquiry-driven experiences
  • Support language development through conversation, reading, and music
  • Encourage independence (hand washing, clean-up, self-help skills)
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom rhythms and curriculum styles

Team & Family Support

  • Build positive relationships with all teaching teams across the school
  • Step in seamlessly to support team needs and maintain morale
  • Greet families warmly and represent Moxi with professionalism
  • Share meaningful updates when supporting in classrooms

Compliance & Professionalism

  • Follow Alabama DHR licensing regulations across all classrooms
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards
  • Complete required trainings and documentation
  • Uphold Moxi policies with consistency and care

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a consistent weekly schedule, designed to support coverage across classrooms during teacher off-days and peak times.

  • Solution-oriented
  • Warm but structured
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment
  • Confident stepping in where needed
  • Passionate about early childhood development
