Mountain Valley Maintenance - Maintenance Technician

Company Summary

Mountain Valley Maintenance is the property maintenance arm of Mountain Valley Property Management, a full-service property management company serving homeowners’ associations and private homeowners in the Vail area. We are hiring a maintenance technician to join our team. This is a skilled, full-time, year-round position.


Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to provide routine maintenance for managed properties, including landscaping, snow removal, custodial, and handyman services. Wage $28.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.


Schedule Typically, at least 40 hours weekly, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. During the winter season, work hours will be dictated by snowfall. Early starts, beginning at 4am, will be required on all snow days. Extended work weeks, including weekends and holidays, will be required during snowstorm cycles. This position is eligible for overtime.


Responsibilities

  • General Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance on managed buildings, units, and properties
  • Repair or replace defective parts or pieces using hand and power tools
  • Conduct regular inspections of systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety
  • Coordinate and participate in maintenance projects
  • Exterior Maintenance:
  • Winter - Snow removal, including plowing and shoveling
  • Plowing is performed with truck or equipment-mounted plows
  • Shoveling is manual or with a snowblower
  • Summer – Landscaping
  • Assist with landscaping tasks such as mowing, weeding, and planting
  • Year-round
  • Hot tub and pool maintenance
  • Custodial operations like parking lot, breezeway, and exterior cleaning
  • Cladding maintenance like touchup painting and carpentry repairs
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Promptly address and report any safety hazards or concerns.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly.
  • Assist in managing emergencies, such as power outages, plumbing issues, or weather-related incidents.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely and cooperatively with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.
  • Interact with owners to solve problems, address concerns, and schedule work.
  • Technology:
  • Track time and material expenditures in our field service application, Jobber.
  • Succeed in a tech-heavy environment.
  • Communicate throughout the day via Teams, text, email, and phone.
  • Upload detailed photos and notes of all tasks performed as they’re performed.


Position Requirements

  • Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in general maintenance, repair work, or a related field.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with team-based success and building a team-first culture.
  • Skills
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and drawings
  • Physical Requirements
  • Walking, lifting, grasping, stooping, and pushing for the majority of the work period
  • Repetitive motions
  • Exert up to 100lbs of force occasionally and 50lbs of force frequently
  • Outdoor work conditions, including cold, hot, and inclement weather
  • Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Existing legal right to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship

Position Preferences

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Previous experience in a similar industry (e.g., manufacturing, hospitality, commercial real estate).
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and English

Work Location

On-site and based out of our maintenance yard in Minturn. Constant travel throughout the Eagle and Roaring Fork Valleys is required to complete job tasks in company-provided vehicles or transportation.
