We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Events Banquet Captain to assist in leading the execution of banquet events at AMP. This role works directly with the Events Banquet Manager and Event Team to supervise event staff, coordinate logistics, and ensure top-tier service that aligns with client expectations and AMP’s high standards.
Job Overview
This is a fast-paced, client-facing role that requires strong hospitality instincts, a collaborative spirit, and an exceptional eye for detail. The ideal candidate is highly organized, reliable, and thrives in delivering memorable guest experiences while leading a motivated service team. This position reports to the Events Banquet Manager.
Must have and maintain an upbeat attitude and excellent communication skills. Have and maintain a strong work ethic and lead by example, in order to get the best from the team while having fun and maintaining a productive work environment.
· Assist with planning, organizing, and managing event execution from setup to breakdown
· Liaise with clients and department leaders to ensure event details align with expectations
· Create event timelines, floor layouts, and staffing plans
· Oversee food & beverage presentation and service, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards
· Coordinate with catering, facilities, and external vendors to ensure smooth operations
· Lead, assist in scheduling, and train event banquet servers
· Monitor staff performance and provide real-time feedback
· Step in to support server duties – hands on
· Foster a positive and efficient team environment focused on guest satisfaction
· Serve as a secondary client point of contact on event days
· Handle special requests, last-minute changes, and guest concerns professionally
· Gather client feedback post-event and relay improvements to the team
· Anticipate and resolve on-site issues or emergencies
· Adjust staffing or setup plans as needed for real-time changes
· Support coordination of catering, rentals, or special guest needs
· Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure timely restocking
· Ensure all event spaces are cleaned and reset after use
· Assist with event documentation and reporting if needed
· 3+ years of experience in event planning, banquet service, or hospitality leadership
· Degree in hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent communication (verbal and written)
· Ability to lead a team and maintain service quality under pressure
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, and event planning tools
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
· Comfortable lifting up to 35 lbs and assisting with event setup
· Capable of bending, turning, reaching, and working in outdoor conditions
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and open holidays
· Valid driver’s license and clean 3-year MVR required
