This role involves a high level of customer service with clients and event staff while ensuring that all events run smoothly and meet or exceed client and venue management expectations. The Event Server plays a critical role in the success of events, from initial setup through final breakdown, with a particular focus on food and beverage setup, presentation, service, and teardown. Event Banquet Servers may also be scheduled to assist as Restaurant Servers in Fuel Kitchen when additional staffing support is needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Food and Beverage Setup and Presentation:
· Setup of food and beverage areas, ensuring they meet client specifications and venue standards.
· Coordinate with the kitchen and catering teams to ensure timely prep, setup and presentation of food.
· Ensure that all food and beverage items are displayed attractively and replenished as needed.
· Handle food and beverages in a manner consistent with safe food handling practices.
Event Execution and Service:
· Assist with physical setup of catering, audiovisual, tables, chairs, and other meeting or event needs.
· Address issues that arise promptly and efficiently, including special dietary requests or last-minute changes.
· Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring guests are attended to and satisfied.
· Work closely with the Event Captain and event staff to ensure smooth event execution.
Event Teardown and Cleanup:
· Oversee the breakdown and cleanup of food and beverage areas, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly stored.
· Ensure that the venue is left in excellent condition, with all areas cleaned and reset as needed.
· Assist with post-event reset to prepare spaces for upcoming events.
Client Interaction and Customer Service:
· Address any client concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
· Report any issues to Captain or Manager immediately for resolution.
· Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor while interacting with guests.
Logistics and Problem Solving:
· Anticipate potential issues and know the contingency plans to address them.
· Assist with coordination of logistics such as event setup, guest needs, and service adjustments.
· Handle emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
Restaurant Server Support (Secondary Duty)
When scheduled to support the restaurant, Event/Banquet Servers may:
· Greet guests warmly and guide them through menu offerings.
· Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen or bar.
· Deliver food and beverages promptly to guests.
· Process guest payments accurately using the POS system.
· Maintain a clean and organized dining area.
· Reset tables and assist with restaurant cleaning duties as needed.
· Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service.
· Restaurant shifts will be compensated at $8.00 per hour plus tips.
Qualifications:
· 1 to 3 years of experience in related type events with an understanding of event logistics and operations.
· Proven team player and skills, with the ability to get along with a diverse team and clients.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Capability to lift and carry heavy items, such as tables, chairs, and event equipment.
· Ability to routinely perform tasks including bending, reaching, turning, climbing, and lifting.
Working Conditions:
· Fast-paced, dynamic hospitality environment.
· Interaction with a wide range of clients, guests, and event staff.
· Collaboration with multiple departments to ensure successful event execution.
· Indoor and outdoor event environments, depending on event needs.
