We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Montessori Substitute Teacher to join our team. This is a part-time, on-call position, and hours may vary based on the needs of the school. This individual will step in when lead teachers or assistant teachers are absent, ensuring the smooth continuation of the Montessori learning environment. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Montessori principles, possess excellent classroom management skills, and be committed to supporting the growth and development of each child.

We recognize that children need to learn at their own pace and when stimulated properly, learn to spontaneously thrive in a positive environment because they are innately inquisitive, curious and creative.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a calm and organized Montessori environment that aligns with the school’s standards.
  • Supervise and assist students in their work, fostering independence, curiosity, and self-directed learning.
  • Support the emotional, social, and physical development of students through respectful communication and interaction.
  • Provide guidance and structure to students working independently or in small groups.
  • Ensure classroom safety, cleanliness, and adherence to school policies.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff and administrators regarding the day’s progress or any concerns.
  • Step in to manage various classroom routines, including arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
  • Report any incidents or challenges to school leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree (Required) in education or related field.
  • Knowledge of Montessori methods and philosophy (preferred).
  • At least two years prior classroom experience, preferably in a Montessori setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom while nurturing a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with various age groups and in different classroom settings.
  • Adult & Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (Required within 90 days of hire).
  • Qualifying Letter from the NC Division of Child Development (Before 1st day).
  • Current TB test and Health Questionnaire from Health Care Professional (Before 1st day).


Work Environment:

  • Collaborative and student-centered.
  • May be required to work with children ranging in age from toddlers to elementary and middle school.


Schedule:

This is an on-call position, and hours may vary based on the needs of the school.


Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
