We are currently seeking a Lower Elementary Teacher (ages 6-9) for the 2023-2024 School Year.
Montessori Children’s School is growing! We are currently seeking trained and certified candidates for current and future positions. Our small, private school currently serves children ages 2 - 12.
Our neighborhood campus includes beautifully appointed classrooms, wooded trails and peaceful areas for students to work, play, and socialize.
Position Summary: Responsible for creating stimulating learning environments for children in assigned age groups with lesson plans that nurture and develop the emotional, social, and intellectual skills of students, while embracing and preserving the Montessori philosophy. Assesses individual student needs, communicates effectively with parents, and creates a nurturing, stimulating classroom of inclusiveness.
Job Description:
▪Develops and delivers creative lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods catering to the needs of the individual student and facilitates active and authentic Montessori learning experiences.
▪Creates and maintains a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom where all children feel safe, valued, and included.
▪Serves as a role model for students exhibiting honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
▪Observes and guides students in the use of classroom learning materials and equipment and uses relevant technology to support instruction.
▪Monitors and assesses student progress and develops comprehensive and meaningful student reports within specified timeframe and communicates information professionally to families.
▪Maintains accurate and current student records as required by school policy and applicable laws and regulations.
▪Guides and directs Teacher/Classroom Assistants & Floaters to ensure the classroom environment is orderly, safe, respectful, and conducive to a stimulating classroom environment.
▪Ensures all classroom resources are carefully maintained, readily available, and in good working condition.
▪Accompanies students on field trips and provides care and oversight when participating in school activities.
Education & Experience Requirements:
▪Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, Elementary teaching, or related discipline.
▪Montessori Certification from an accredited program in Lower Elementary (Ages 6-9) is strongly preferred, or willing to pursue certification within the timeframe required.
▪Previous experience teaching in an Elementary setting.
This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and engaging with students both one-on-one and in group settings.
Compensation: Dependent on candidate's qualifications. Full-time employees can be eligible for benefits.
