Direct Reports: Bozeman-based Canvassers

Montana Conservation Voters is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)4 membership organization whose mission is to protect our clean air, clean water, public lands, and democracy by supporting leaders who fight for conservation and by holding accountable leaders who do not. The MCV Action Fund is an independent state political action committee (PAC) that supports pro-conservation candidates fighting for these issues.


JOB DESCRIPTION: REGIONAL ORGANIZER

Our community organizer will empower Montanans and amplify their voices by engaging voters in their neighborhoods on a range of key conservation issues directly impacting their community. Regional Organizers will be part of a small team committed to enthusiastically sharing and protecting Montana values. This is an excellent opportunity for those wanting to get more engaged and shape the future of Montana.


Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Knocking on Montanans’ doors to have guided conversations with them about MCV-endorsed candidates and conservation issues, while practicing appropriate data collection
  • Managing and motivating a field team composed of 3-6 canvassers in Bozeman
  • Playing a supporting role in field team hiring efforts, including but not limited to serving on interview panels and performing reference checks
  • Maintaining and building relationships with community partners
  • Organizing community events to educate Montanans on pressing conservation issues
  • Writing letters to the editor, creating social media posts, distributing printed materials, and other grassroots outreach as needed
  • Regularly engaging MCV volunteers with organizing projects
  • Assisting with recruitment of volunteers and MCV members
  • Managing administrative tasks and communicating appropriately across Team MCV about outreach, engagement, and events


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong commitment to MCV’s mission and goals
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills while also being a self-motivator
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to listen to and learn from constituents while staying on message about conservation issues across Montana
  • Access to reliable transportation and a smartphone or tablet
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and punctuality
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week


This Bozeman Regional Organizer must be based in Bozeman and should expect to travel within their community.

COMPENSATION

MCV offers a competitive hourly wage of $26 per hour with bonus opportunities. Full-time employees of MCV are eligible for health, dental, and optical insurance as well as retirement benefits.
