About the HVAC Production Internship 

We are seeking 4-5 talented junior technicians to build up the Production Team for our third-generation liquid desiccant air conditioner factory during the month of December, 2023, possibly extending part-time into 2024.  No prior experience is required, but any technical HVAC training and knowledge is highly desirable.  The successful candidate will “get in at the ground floor” of our newly launched and funded business to build our manufacturing process and team.  This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation for climate solutions and be a part of creating and launching cutting edge technology.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible to assemble and commission prototypes and production Air Conditioners. 
  • Responsible to be a part of the Assembly team at Mojave’s first factory, achieving and exceeding all budgeted metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. 
  • Follow best manufacturing practices to build/assemble refrigeration systems including compressors, coils, valves, receivers, accumulators, oil separators, and other HVAC/refrigeration components. 
  • Follow mechanical and electrical drawings to assemble commercial HVAC equipment including refrigeration system/heat pump; evaporator and condenser coils; fans and dampers; pumps and plumbing; high voltage (120-480V) electrical components; and sheet metal and insulation components. 
  • Braze copper pipe for refrigeration system: leak test, pump down, charge, and commission. 
  • Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting and repair of equipment. 
  • Work both independently and under the direction of senior technicians and Manufacturing Engineering. 
  • Interface clearly and politely with customers and coworkers. 
  • Clearly document and report repairs undertaken and results of inspections. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Any experience in a Manufacturing setting is desired. 
  • Basic understanding of pressure-vapor curve and refrigeration engineering concepts desired. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Strong verbal communication skills. 
  • Basic written communication skills (email, reports, etc). 

 


We offer a competitive wage rate of $15/h, the ideal candidate is available for 20-40 hours of work per week.  Mojave Energy Systems is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
