Position Summary

Modern Catering is seeking an experienced, energetic, and relationship-driven Catering Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts and continue our rapid growth throughout Colorado.

This position is responsible for generating new business, cultivating long-term client relationships, and guiding clients through the entire sales process. The ideal candidate is a motivated sales professional who thrives on building relationships, exceeding sales goals, and delivering outstanding customer service.

This role works closely with our culinary and operations teams to ensure every event is planned with precision and executed seamlessly.

Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Generate new catering business through networking, prospecting, referrals, venue partnerships, and community involvement.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and convert leads into booked events.
  • Conduct venue tours, client consultations, tastings, and discovery meetings.
  • Build relationships with wedding planners, corporate clients, event venues, nonprofits, and community organizations.
  • Attend networking events, bridal shows, chamber events, and industry functions.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects using the company CRM.

Client Experience

  • Guide clients through menu selection, event planning, rentals, and service options.
  • Prepare customized proposals, contracts, and event estimates.
  • Negotiate pricing while maintaining company profitability.
  • Provide exceptional communication throughout the planning process.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from sales to operations for successful event execution.
  • Follow up after events to gather feedback and encourage repeat business and referrals.

Revenue Growth

  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell food, beverage, rentals, staffing, and specialty services.
  • Track key performance metrics including:
  • Sales revenue
  • Closing percentage
  • Average event value
  • Lead response time
  • Referral business
  • Client satisfaction

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and Operations Team.
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings and forecasting.
  • Maintain accurate event details and timelines.
  • Assist with marketing initiatives, social media content, and promotional campaigns when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of catering, hospitality, wedding, or event sales experience.
  • Proven success meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Professional appearance and customer-first attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships within the Colorado event and wedding industry.
  • Experience working with wedding venues and corporate clients.
  • Knowledge of catering operations and banquet event planning.
  • Experience with Caterease, Tripleseat, or similar catering management software.
