Description
We're looking for a hands-on Garage Manager to lead our service department — managing a team of mechanics, keeping the shop organized and moving, and delivering a smooth, professional experience for every customer who walks in. You'll be both a leader and a technician: someone who's comfortable running the floor and picking up a wrench when it's needed.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily Garage operations and workflow — prioritizing service, repair, assembly, and hand-off tasks so jobs keep moving
- Lead and support the mechanic team — assigning work based on skill level and workload, and stepping in on tough repairs
- Check customers in and out for service, repairs, tune-ups, and warranty work, with clear estimates and updates along the way
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and basic e-bike electrical issues, and do the repair work yourself when needed
- Handle warranty and fleet maintenance cases, coordinating with Support, Fulfillment, and Inventory as needed
- Prepare new bikes for hand-off — assembled, inspected, charged, and ready — and walk customers through their new ride
- Build and improve Garage processes — keep things organized, catch recurring issues, and help grow service revenue
What We're Looking For
- Strong mechanical repair experience (bike or e-bike preferred)
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, or a real willingness to learn
- Experience leading or managing a team
- Highly organized and process-oriented
- Strong communication skills, especially with customers
- Comfortable handling multiple tasks and priorities at once
- Comfortable being both hands-on and managing others
- Proficient with Mac and comfortable learning new software quickly
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
Bonus Points For
- Experience in a bike shop, automotive, or similar service environment
- E-bike-specific experience
- Familiarity with service/ticketing systems
- Experience handling warranty processes
- Experience with Asana, Shopify, or Slack
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation, based on experience
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
- PTO
- Employee discounts on bikes and accessories
- A small, tight-knit team that actually listens to your ideas
- Room to grow as MOD BIKES grows
