Mix Bakeshop is an Ashland locale for those looking to indulge and nourish themselves with from-scratch pastries and high-quality Stumptown coffee. Our bakery makes traditional French pastries & baked goods, handmade artisan breads and craft ice cream.

General Job Information

Counter Position Desired Skills:

• Required: Ability to work 3-5 shifts a week (18+ hours)
• Required: Ability to work 2-6 hour shifts at Mix Bakeshop location downtown between the hours of 8 am - 1030 pm
• Preferred: 1 year of Hospitality or Restaurant Experience
• Preferred: 1 year of Barista or Coffee Experience

Bar Position Desired Skills:

• Required: Ability to work 4-5 shifts a week (24+ hours)
• Required: Ability to work 6 hours shifts at Mix Bakeshop downtown location between the hours of 630 am - 1030 pm
• Required: Ability to work at Remix Coffeeshop southside location as needed
• Required: 1 year of Hospitality or Restaurant Experience
• Required: 1 year of Barista experience
• Preferred: 1 year of Barista Experience in a Third Wave Coffee Shop

Baker Position Desired Skills:

• Required: Ability to work 2-5 shifts a week (16+ hours)
• Required: Ability to work between the hours of 3 am - 6 pm
• Required: A general knowledge of math.
• Delivery Position Required: Valid license, clean driving record, and 21+ (for insurance purposes)
• Preferred: 1 year of Hospitality or Restaurant Experience
• Preferred: 1 year of Baking experience

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All Positions:

• Be reliable and punctual.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to multitask.
• Communicate with team and leadership to solve problems and improve service
• Support a positive work environment
• Navigate a fast-paced work environment
• Honor health code and cleanliness standards
• Keep the work area clean & organized and participate in deep cleaning duties as needed.
• Ability to work at our downtown Mix Bakeshop location

Customer Service Functions:

• Provide friendly, efficient, and personal service to each customer
• Create a rapport with regular customers
• Maintain familiarity with coffee products and quality standards to educate customers on our products
• Accurately process transactions in the ’Square’ system

Barista Functions:

• Serve espresso-based drinks to product quality standards
• An understanding of coffee's different brew methods and serving styles
• Ability to pour latte art: hearts, tulips, and rosettas with ease
• Ability to dial in the espresso to maintain quality standards
• Understanding of third-wave coffee practices and routines
• Daily cleanings and shut down of espresso equipment
• Ability to adapt to multiple store flows, processes, and menu knowledge

Bakery Functions

• Scale, shape, and bake different types of dough for our retail cafes and wholesale accounts. (e.g. Baguette, Brioche, Ciabatta, and Sourdough.)
• Read and follow recipes and protocols for mixing Baguette and Croissant Dough.
• Meet all production, delivery, and baking timeline targets.
• Read and follow printed recipes and protocols for recipes (mixing instructions, etc.)
• Stage products, rotate retail bakery products, and navigate delivery of daily pastries, bread, and other items throughout town

Physical Demands

• Stand & Walk - up to 10 hrs on shift and move about the cafe
• Lift - up to 50 lbs regularly
• Barista: Tamping - up to 30lbs of pressure on the wrist, arm, and shoulder

Certificates & Licenses

Candidate must obtain prior to first day:

• Oregon OLCC Alcohol Service Permit (if 18+)
• Oregon Food Handler’s License
