Mithril Technologies RF Engineer Somerville, MA · Full time Company website

We are seeking an RF Engineer with 2–4 years of experience to help design, develop and integrate the RF hardware and systems at the core of our radar technology. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and the broader team to turn system level requirements into practical hardware solutions. This role spans the full RF engineering lifecycle from circuit level design and simulation to system level analysis, hardware characterization and integration. At Mithril, you won’t be limited to a single component or narrowly defined subsystem. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of challenging technical problems, contribute to decisions that shape the overall system and grow your expertise alongside an ambitious engineering team. We are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with practical problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to take on challenges beyond a narrowly defined scope.

Description

What You’ll Do

• Design RF Hardware: Analyze, design, simulate and characterize RF circuits and

subsystems for advanced radar applications.

• Develop RF Architectures: Support the design and integration of transmit and

receive chains, including amplifiers, filters, switches and mixers.

• Analyze System Performance: Perform RF link budget analysis including noise

figure, gain, dynamic range assessments and non-linear analysis.

• Model and Simulate: Develop analytical models and simulations to evaluate circuit

behavior, subsystem performance and architectural tradeoOs.

• Build and Test: Integrate, characterize and troubleshoot RF hardware in the lab

using vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and power

meters.

• Solve Complex Problems: Troubleshoot unexpected hardware and system

behavior, identify root causes and implement practical solutions.

• Contribute to the Technical Team: Collaborate across RF, antenna, digital and

signal processing domains to develop a cohesive radar system.

• Drive Hardware Development: Contribute to component selection, prototype

development, design reviews and system level demonstrations.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical

discipline.

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in RF, microwave, or high frequency hardware

design, development or systems engineering.

• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, including impedance matching,

transmission lines, S-parameters, gain, noise figure and nonlinear behavior.

• Experience with RF test equipment and hands on hardware characterization.

• Familiarity with RF simulation and analysis tools such as Keysight ADS, AWR

Microwave OOice, Ansys HFSS or equivalent.

• Experience using MATLAB, Python or similar tools for engineering analysis, modeling and data processing.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to move between

detailed circuit behavior and broader system performance.

• A proactive, hands-on approach to engineering and the ability to work

independently while collaborating eOectively with a small team.

• U.S. person: U.S. citizen or green card holder. Required for all candidates (ITAR).

• Clearable: able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Bonus Points

• Experience with radar systems or antenna technology.

• Familiarity with transmit/receive architectures, high-power amplifiers, low-noise

receivers or frequency conversion.

• Experience with the radar range equation, sensitivity analysis or RF system link

budgets.

• Exposure to RF PCB design, layout considerations, schematic capture or hardware

prototyping.

• Experience integrating RF hardware with digital electronics, data acquisition or

signal-processing systems.

• Interest in space-based sensing and advanced radar architectures.

Why Join Mithril?

• Make a Direct Impact: Your engineering decisions will influence the design and

performance of the overall system.

• Own Meaningful Technical Challenges: Work across circuit design, RF systems

analysis, and hardware integration rather than being confined to a single narrow

function.

• Build What You Design: Take ideas from simulation and analysis into physical

hardware and system demonstrations.

• Work Closely with Technical Leadership: Collaborate directly with the people

shaping the company's technology and engineering roadmap.

• Grow With the Company: Help build a new engineering organization and expand

your technical responsibilities as the team grows.
