Mithril Technologies Electrical Engineer – Controls Somerville, MA · Full time Company website

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2–4 years of experience to help develop the electrical systems, control interfaces and instrumentation that bring our radar technology to life. This role bridges electrical engineering, embedded control and system integration. You will contribute to the design and implementation of control electronics, hardware interfaces, instrumentation and system level integration. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and the broader team across multiple engineering disciplines, take ownership of meaningful technical challenges and help develop complex hardware systems from initial concept through prototype and system demonstration. We are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with practical problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to take on challenges beyond a narrowly defined scope.

Description

What You’ll Do

• Design Electrical Systems: Develop electrical architectures, control interfaces,

and supporting electronics for radar subsystems and test platforms.

• Develop Control Systems: Implement control and monitoring solutions for system

components, including power supplies, RF equipment, switches, actuators and

other hardware as required.

• Integrate Hardware: Develop interfaces between electrical, RF, digital and

mechanical subsystems to enable coordinated system operation.

• Build Instrumentation and Monitoring: Implement sensing, data acquisition,

telemetry and control capabilities for system health monitoring and performance

evaluation.

• Develop Control Software: Write or modify scripts and software for hardware

control, automated testing, data collection and system operation using languages

such as Python, C/C++, or equivalent.

• Troubleshoot and Validate: Bring up prototypes, debug electrical and control

issues and verify system functionality through hands-on testing.

• Support System Integration: Develop test procedures, interface documentation

and integration plans to support reliable system operation.

• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with the engineering team to define

interfaces, resolve integration challenges and improve overall system performance.

• Drive Iterative Development: Contribute to rapid prototyping, component

selection, vendor coordination and hardware demonstrations.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a

related technical discipline.

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, controls, embedded

hardware, instrumentation or system integration.

• Strong fundamentals in electrical circuits, digital and analog electronics and

hardware interfaces.

• Experience integrating, controlling or troubleshooting electrical hardware.

• Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded systems, communication interfaces or hardware control software.• Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, such as Python, C/C++ or MATLAB.

• Experience with laboratory test equipment, debugging tools and systematic

hardware validation.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work across hardware and software boundaries.

• A hands-on, proactive approach to engineering and the ability to work eSectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

• U.S. person: U.S. citizen or green card holder. Required for all candidates (ITAR).

• Clearable: Able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Bonus Points

• Experience with control system design, feedback systems or real-time hardware

control.

• Familiarity with embedded firmware, FPGA-based systems or digital interfaces.

• Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, telemetry or automated

test development.

• Exposure to PCB design, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams or cable and

harness integration.

• Experience with power electronics, power distribution or electrical system

monitoring.

• Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet or CAN.

• Experience integrating complex electronic systems for aerospace, defense, robotics or other demanding applications.

Why Join Mithril?
