The Programs Manager will oversee the planning, development, and execution of the Missouri Organic Association’s educational, technical assistance, and outreach programs to support regenerative and organic agriculture. The Programs Manager will work closely with staff, members, partners, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality programs that advance the mission of the association. Grant writing and management, particularly for federal grants, will be a key responsibility of the Programs Manager. This role requires excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and engagement.

Location: Remote within Missouri, occasional on-site at MOA office in Hartsburg, MO

Position Type: Full-time, exempt


Key Responsibilities:


  • Program Development: Design, implement, and evaluate programs that align with MOA’s goals, including workshops, webinars, field days, conferences, and other educational and outreach activities.


  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery, tracking milestones, and maintaining high standards for outcomes.


  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners (universities, agencies, farmers, subawardees, and nonprofits) to develop and execute programs.


  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to assess their needs, solicit feedback on programs, and ensure programs provide a high level of value.


  • Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, sponsors, and stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of programs.


  • Grant Writing & Management: Research, apply for, and manage grants that support program initiatives. Ensure effective monitoring procedures are followed to maintain compliance with all grant requirements. Maintain communications with stakeholders for each grant and prepare and submit all necessary reports in a timely fashion.


  • Data Management: Maintain records of program participation, deliverables, outcomes, and feedback, and provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve programs.


  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing program budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively and within organizational guidelines.


  • Outreach & Education: Collaborate with the communications team to develop educational resources and to plan and execute association and program events, including the annual conference, workshops, webinars, and field days.


  • Supervision: This position will supervise staff members within the Programs team across multiple grant projects.


Qualifications


  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, communications, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.


  •  Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in program management, or a related role, preferably within a membership-based organization or non-profit.
  • 5+ years of grant writing and management experience, preferably with USDA or other federal grants.
  • Working knowledge of regenerative and organic agricultural practices.


  • Skills:
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Zoom, Slack, and other communications tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving, interpersonal, and critical thinking abilities.


Working Conditions


  • Primarily home office-based, with occasional office days required.
  • ~10% travel to events and meetings, both in-state and out-of-state.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for meetings and events required.
  • Some activities may be held outdoors and on working farms, which may expose attendees to adverse weather or temperature conditions.
  • Ability to carry equipment and materials across uneven terrain.
  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license.


Compensation and Benefits


  • Salary: Commensurate with experience, starting at $65,000/year.
