About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager, Inspections & Maintenance Field Agent to help oversee the condition, functionality, and overall readiness of the homes we manage throughout Nashville.
This is a hands-on field position for someone who is dependable, organized, comfortable with technology, and capable of handling minor maintenance issues. You will conduct property inspections, identify and document problems, complete routine property care, and help resolve maintenance issues before they affect a guest’s stay.
You will also support our Operations Manager with property onboarding, vendor coordination, technology troubleshooting, and improvements to our field operations.
Compensation
- $30,000 annual base compensation
- Full-time independent contractor position
- Additional $30 paid for each completed maintenance work order
- Regular inspections, routine property care, and standard field responsibilities are included in the base compensation
- Opportunity to increase total earnings by completing more approved maintenance work orders
What You’ll Do
- Conduct detailed property inspections before and after guest stays
- Complete onboarding inspections for new properties
- Create clear digital reports with photos, notes, and recommended next steps
- Identify maintenance, cleaning, safety, and property condition issues
- Complete minor repairs and maintenance work orders
- Handle tasks such as paint touch-ups, fixture replacements, furniture adjustments, and basic troubleshooting
- Install and troubleshoot smart locks, Wi-Fi systems, thermostats, cameras, and other property technology
- Assist with minor staging, restocking, and property care when needed
- Report larger maintenance issues and help coordinate outside vendors
- Follow up to confirm that reported issues have been resolved correctly
- Work closely with cleaners, maintenance vendors, guest support, and the Operations Manager
- Help improve inspection processes, maintenance systems, and field workflows
- Ensure every property meets Misfit Homes’ standards for cleanliness, functionality, design, and guest readiness
- Represent Misfit Homes professionally when interacting with guests, owners, vendors, and neighbors
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic handyman and maintenance abilities
- Comfortable troubleshooting Wi-Fi, smart locks, thermostats, televisions, and other household technology
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and make good decisions in the field
- Proactive, dependable, and solutions-oriented
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Comfortable traveling between properties throughout the Nashville area
- Availability to work a full-time schedule in the field
Preferred Experience
- Property management, hospitality, maintenance, or short-term rental experience
- Familiarity with smart home systems such as Yale, Schlage, Nest, Ring, and similar products
- Experience coordinating cleaners, contractors, or maintenance vendors
- Previous leadership or operations experience
