Description

Position Summary

The Process Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the mine's processing facilities during assigned shifts, providing frontline leadership to process operators and supporting plant commissioning, startup, and ramp-up activities. Working closely with the Processing Manager, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and operations teams, this role ensures plant operations meet safety standards, production targets, and operating procedures while supporting reliable plant performance in a startup mining environment.


Key Responsibilities


Plant Operations & Performance

•     Supervise day-to-day processing plant operations during assigned shifts, including crushing, conveying, leaching, adsorption, recovery, and refining processes as applicable.

•     Monitor plant performance and operating conditions to ensure production targets, recovery rates, and throughput objectives are achieved.

•     Ensure operators follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices.

•     Identify and respond to operational issues to maintain plant efficiency and minimize downtime.

•     Communicate operational performance, challenges, and shift updates to plant leadership.


Commissioning & Ramp-Up

•     Support plant commissioning, startup, and ramp-up activities in coordination with the Processing Manager and engineering teams.

•     Assist with system testing, equipment checks, and operational readiness activities.

•     Identify operational constraints and escalate issues that may impact startup or plant performance.

•     Provide feedback on procedures and operating practices as systems transition into production.


Leadership & Team Supervision

•     Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to process operators and control room personnel.

•     Conduct shift meetings and communicate daily operational priorities.

•     Ensure operators are trained on equipment operation, safety procedures, and plant processes.

•     Promote accountability, teamwork, and strong operational discipline across crews.

•     Support performance management through coaching, training, and documentation when necessary.


Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

•     Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across plant operations.

•     Ensure compliance with MSHA Part 48 regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.

•     Participate in workplace inspections, hazard identification, and incident investigations.

•     Ensure proper completion of pre-operational inspections and reporting of equipment issues.


Maintenance & Cross-Functional Coordination

•     Coordinate with maintenance teams to address equipment issues and improve plant reliability.

•     Assist with planning and execution of maintenance activities and plant shutdowns.

•     Communicate equipment conditions, operational concerns, and maintenance needs to relevant teams.

•     Work closely with mine operations, laboratory, and technical teams to support consistent plant feed and recovery performance.


Reporting & Continuous Improvement

•     Maintain accurate shift logs, operational reports, and plant documentation.

•     Track and communicate key operational metrics during shifts.

•     Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and operating practices.

•     Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new procedures or systems.


Qualifications


Required

•     High school diploma or equivalent.

•     3+ years of experience in mineral processing or plant operations.

•     Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a processing or industrial environment.

•     Strong understanding of processing plant equipment and operating practices.

•     Knowledge of MSHA Part 48 safety regulations and safe work practices.

•     Strong troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.


Preferred

•     Experience in gold processing operations.

•     Experience with heap leach, crushing circuits, ADR plants, or recovery systems.

•     Experience supporting plant commissioning or startup operations.


Physical Requirements

•     Ability to traverse rugged, uneven mine site terrain, including inclines and unpaved surfaces.

•     Ability to work in both plant and field environments, including exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, and noise.

•     Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods across the processing plant.

•     Comfortable wearing required PPE for extended periods, including respirators when necessary.

•     Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.


Work Environment

This position is based at the Mineral Ridge Mine site near Silver Peak, Nevada. Work is performed in both plant and field environments within an active mining and processing operation, and the role may require rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays to support plant operations.


The employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet ongoing operational needs.
