You'll work on plant equipment, crushing and conveying systems, pumps, and site infrastructure — helping build our preventive maintenance program from the ground up rather than just maintaining an established one.

Description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician supports safe, reliable operation of site equipment, plant systems, utilities, and facilities across MRG's construction, commissioning, and steady-state operating phases. This role plays a foundational part in building maintenance practices, systems, and reliability standards as the site transitions from construction into production.

The position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting ability, adaptability in a developing operational environment, and a willingness to support evolving site priorities as maintenance programs are built and refined.


Key Responsibilities


Maintenance Program Development & Multi-Stage Site Support

•         Support installation, alignment, inspections, and equipment readiness activities during construction and commissioning phases

•         Assist with maintenance of plant equipment, crushing, conveying, pumping systems, utilities, piping networks, reagent infrastructure, and site facilities

•         Support development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs across plant equipment and infrastructure

•         Assist with lubrication routes, inspection routines, service intervals, maintenance checklists, SOPs, and equipment history documentation

•         Participate in commissioning activities including testing, adjustments, and early troubleshooting prior to steady-state operations

•         Support spare parts identification, warehouse stocking recommendations, and asset tracking (including future CMMS integration)

•         Contribute to reliability improvements as baseline operating conditions are established

•         Support transition from contractor-supported installation to owner-operated maintenance practices

•         Assist with temporary system installation and evolving site infrastructure during early-stage development

•         Provide mechanical support across departments as site priorities shift and operations expand


Preventive Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Reliability

•         Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment and site infrastructure

•         Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete timely repairs

•         Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and operational concerns

•         Replace components such as pumps, motors, belts, bearings, valves, and hoses

•         Support lubrication programs and service intervals

•         Diagnose equipment failures and recommend corrective actions

•         Support root-cause investigations and reliability improvement efforts

•         Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime and maintainability

•         Assist with spare parts identification and inventory planning


Flexibility & Cross-Functional Support

•         Provide maintenance support across plant, facilities, utilities, warehouse, and site services as priorities shift

•         Assist with equipment moves, setup, and infrastructure adjustments during site expansion

•         Support contractor coordination and vendor service visits

•         Contribute to developing maintenance procedures and site standards as programs mature

•         Take on additional responsibilities consistent with project-stage requirements


Safety, Documentation & Coordination

•         Follow MSHA Part 48 regulations, site safety policies, and lockout/tagout procedures

•         Participate in hazard identification, JSAs, and pre-task planning activities

•         Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance work areas

•         Report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, and near-miss incidents promptly

•         Complete maintenance work orders accurately and on time

•         Record inspections, repairs, and parts usage to support equipment history tracking

•         Coordinate with operations, warehouse, and supervisors to support maintenance priorities

•         Support development of preventive maintenance workflows and documentation as site programs expand


Qualifications


Required

•         High school diploma or equivalent

•         2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in mining, construction, or industrial environments

•         Experience working with pumps, conveyors, motors, and rotating equipment

•         Ability to read manuals, diagrams, and maintenance procedures

•         Valid driver's license

•         Ability to work and live onsite at a remote mining operation


Preferred

•         Experience supporting processing plants or heap leach operations

•         Welding or light fabrication capability

•         Heavy equipment maintenance support experience

•         MSHA Part 48 training or ability to obtain


Physical Requirements

•         Ability to traverse rugged, uneven mine site terrain, including inclines and unpaved surfaces

•         Exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and dust

•         Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly

•         Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods

•         Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead while performing maintenance tasks

•         Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment

•         Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required

•         Comfortable wearing required PPE for extended periods, including respirators, fall protection, and hearing protection


Work Environment

Work is performed in an active mine-site environment spanning indoor plant and outdoor field conditions, including construction and commissioning activity. The role works closely with Operations, Warehouse, and site supervisors, and follows MRG's 7-on/7-off rotation, supporting extended shifts as construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations evolve.


The employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet ongoing operational needs.
