Assay Lab Technician — Full-time, onsite in Silver Peak, NV (mancamp housing provided). Supports Mill operations by preparing and analyzing mineral samples — receiving, logging, crushing, and pulverizing samples, then running routine lab analyses per QA/QC protocols and reporting results within required turnaround times
Position Summary
The Assay Lab Technician supports Mine and Mill operations through the safe, accurate, and timely preparation and analysis of mineral samples. This role performs a variety of laboratory and sample preparation duties while ensuring compliance with established quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards, company procedures, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
• Perform all work safely and in compliance with company policies, site procedures, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in identifying, reporting, and responding to hazards, incidents, and near misses in accordance with site reporting procedures.
Sample Preparation & Analysis
• Prepare mine, mill, and metallurgical samples for analysis, including sample receiving, logging, drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing.
• Conduct routine laboratory analyses in accordance with established analytical methods and QA/QC protocols.
• Accurately record, verify, and report analytical data within required turnaround times.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate effectively with Mine, Mill, Metallurgy, and other operational teams to support production requirements.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
• Maintain laboratory and sample preparation equipment through routine cleaning, inspections, and basic preventative maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory by following housekeeping standards and proper waste disposal practices.
Continuous Improvement
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory methods, procedures, and operational efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assay Laboratory Supervisor.
Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with computer operation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear reporting and team coordination.
• Good interpersonal skills to foster collaboration between peers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote camp setting.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality standards and meeting production targets.
• Ability to work and live onsite at a remote mining operation.
Preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Practical experience with equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting analytical processes.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to traverse rugged, uneven mine site terrain, including inclines and unpaved surfaces.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and dust.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. — sample bags and lab materials
• Comfortable wearing required PPE for extended periods, including respirators when necessary.
• Regular exposure to hazardous laboratory and mine-site environments; PPE required at all times in designated areas.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in the assay laboratory within MRG's remote camp setting, working closely with Mine, Mill, and Metallurgy teams to support daily production and sampling needs.
The employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet ongoing operational needs.
