Location: Fully Remote - Illinois and Texas preferred, open to other states for the right fit

About the Role

Mindsize partners with enterprise clients to build and support digital products. We're hiring a Frontend Engineer to join a client-embedded team building web applications for one of those clients.

You'll build and ship production React and Next.js features as part of an experienced engineering team, working directly with client stakeholders and contributing from your first sprint.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain user-facing features in React and Next.js, working from designs and acceptance criteria
• Write clean, tested, readable code and participate in code review
• Integrate frontend components with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Fix bugs and investigate issues reported by QA, stakeholders, or monitoring
• Participate in agile ceremonies: standups, sprint planning, retros, and refinement
• Communicate progress clearly, flag blockers early, and document your work
• Contribute to a production codebase with real users and real uptime expectations

What We're Looking For

Required

• 1–2 years of professional experience building web applications with React and TypeScript
• Experience with the Next.js App Router, including when to use server vs. client components
• Solid fundamentals in HTML and CSS, including modern styling approaches like CSS Modules and Tailwind CSS
• Experience managing application state and fetching API data in React applications
• Writes unit tests with Vitest or Jest and React Testing Library as part of everyday development
• Comfort with Git and a branch/PR/review workflow
• Authorized to work in the US and based in the US
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the self-direction to work effectively on a remote, client-facing team

Nice to Have

• GraphQL, including typed queries generated with code generation tools
• Building forms with React Hook Form and schema validation with Zod
• Building and documenting components in Storybook or a shared design system
• Next.js server features: Server Actions, Route Handlers, and caching
• End-to-end testing with Playwright and API mocking with Mock Service Worker (MSW)
• Accessibility practices (WCAG) and automated checks with axe
• Exposure to backend work (Python, Node, Java, or similar)
• Experience with e-commerce, digital retail, or consumer-facing products
