Mainframe Systems Architect

We are seeking a dedicated Mainframe Architect to help us integrate our existing mainframe compute and storage capacity into a new environment in support our latest acquisition.  Additionally, there is significant analysis to be completed for all third-party software required to support our current and future environments.

Responsibilities

·      Review and analyze proposed solutions from the vendor for the mainframe environment. 

·      Configuration, IBM licensing, and resource requirements.

·      Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure the proposed infrastructure meets our operational needs and future growth.

·      Collaborate with IBM and internal stakeholders to finalize solution design and procurement.

·      Work closely with the mainframe infrastructure team to optimize hardware configuration to reduce license costs where applicable.

·      Review current software inventory and look for synergies of software licenses

·      Partner with the Mainframe Software Specialist to optimize hardware and software license options.

·      Review current mainframe hardware and software roadmap. 

·      Determine timing for the integration of the mainframe lifecycle. 

·      Work with the project team to create a roadmap of mainframe data and if needed synchronize the existing environment.

·      Work with the team to implement solution and ensure Client success to meet their objectives

Required Technical and Professional Experience

·      Experience working as a mainframe systems architect

·      Experience as a domain expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software.

·      Over ten years of experience in Mainframe (z/OS) System Programming, z/OS services structure, JES2 concepts, Parallel Sysplex and Catalog management

·      Proven experience in providing support for ISV products, along with diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis.

·      Experience generating engineering solutions and working across teams

·      ·Experience producing project plans and accomplishing goals on time and budget
