Part-Time Market Retail Associate at The Mill
THE ROLE
You are the face of The Mill. Market Sales Associates run the front of the market: welcoming customers, making drinks and menu items to recipe, ringing sales, filling online and pickup orders, and keeping the case and shelves full, fresh, and inviting. Warm, personable service is the heart of the job; the rest is doing the basics right, every shift.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Take care of customers. Greet everyone who walks in, answer questions, make recommendations, and know what's new on the menu this week.
• Make drinks and menu items to recipe - consistent, quick, and made to order.
• Ring it right. Process sales on Square with the correct items, member pricing, and discounts; handle cash to policy. Sign up new members and explain the perks.
• Fill orders. Assemble in-store, online, pickup, and delivery orders complete and on time, and check every order before it goes out.
• Keep the store sharp. Stock, face, and rotate the grab-and-go case, shelves, and displays; pull anything out of date; flag low stock.
• Close the loop with the kitchen. Complete the closing shelf count so the kitchen packs the right restock.
• Run the checklists. Opening and closing tasks, food safety, cash handling, and a clean floor, customer area, and restrooms.
• Show up for the community. Support tastings, events, and mobile market shifts as scheduled.
WHAT WE EXPECT
• On time and ready for every scheduled shift; if you can't make it, arrange coverage early.
• Every customer is acknowledged within moments of walking in - nobody waits unnoticed.
• Tickets are accurate and the drawer balances.
• Orders leave complete, correct, and on time.
• The case and shelves look full and fresh all day, with nothing out of date on the floor.
• You know the menu and this week's focus - stay current with new products and team updates.
• Problems, shortages, and customer issues you can't solve get raised right away.
WHO DOES WELL HERE
• Likes people, and is friendly and clear with regulars and first-timers alike.
• Hospitality or retail experience is a plus, not required - we'll train you.
• Accurate with money and comfortable on a POS tablet.
• Moves easily between tasks and stays calm when it gets busy.
• Reliable, with weekend and holiday availability.
DETAILS
Schedule: Part-time, 20–30 hours a week. Shifts include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Location: The Mill Market, downtown Walla Walla; occasional event and mobile market shifts.
Physical: On your feet for a full shift; lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Required: Washington Food Worker Card and MAST permit within 14 days of hire.
Tips: Hours worked in the market are tip-eligible.
