Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Provides swim instruction based on the Michiana Marlins Swim School curriculum.
- Provide a high energy, fun, positive and educational group swim lesson experience for children.
- Effectively manages group lesson dynamics with positive & encouraging command of a group class.
- Evaluates students’ progress. Completes & maintains paperwork as required (attendance, progress reports, incident reports etc.).
- Acts as a Michiana Marlins “ambassador” to ensure parental/guardian satisfaction, routinely clearly communicating the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills while interacting with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills and with fellow co-workers.
- Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
- Organizes and puts away all class equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
- Performs deckhand duties as needed.
- Occasionally performs light cleaning duties such as deck mopping, trash removal etc.
- Occasionally required to attend in-service training outside of regular working hours.
Other duties may be assigned.
Required certifications before first day of class:
- USA Swimming Non-Athlete Membership for ages 18+
- USA Swimming Athlete or Non-Athlete Membership for ages 16-17
- Marlins Swim School Instructor Training (provided, but attendance required)
Desired experience:
Previous swim instructor or competitive swimming experience desired
