We are seeking an experienced Generator Service & Solutions Technician to help lead and grow our residential and commercial generator business. This is more than a traditional service technician role. In addition to diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining standby generators, you will work directly with customers to evaluate their needs, develop solutions, prepare estimates, follow up on opportunities, and coordinate generator projects with our team. You will also play an important role in growing our generator maintenance and service business, including the Meyers PowerGuard Generator Maintenance Program.

You will also play an important role in growing our generator maintenance and service business, including the Meyers PowerGuard Generator Maintenance Program.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver with solid electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the desire to take ownership of projects from diagnosis through completion.

This position offers competitive base pay plus additional incentive/bonus compensation tied to the growth and profitability of the generator business.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair residential and commercial generators.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive service while helping grow the Meyers PowerGuard Generator Maintenance Program.
  • Read wiring diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to identify electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Clearly explain findings, recommendations, and repair options to customers.
  • Prepare estimates for generator repairs, replacements, upgrades, and new installations.
  • Follow up on estimates and customer opportunities in a timely manner to help drive sales conversion.
  • Conduct site visits for new generator installations and evaluate generator and electrical requirements.
  • Coordinate with electricians, office staff, and other team members to move approved projects from estimate through completion.
  • Perform generator startup, testing, and commissioning as appropriate.
  • Accurately document service work, estimates, customer communications, and project information.
  • Identify opportunities for generator maintenance agreements, replacements, upgrades, and additional services.
  • Help develop and improve processes as Meyers Electric continues to grow its generator business.


Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on experience with generator service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair required.
  • Experience with Generac, Kohler, Cummins/Onan, or similar generator systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with multimeters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable learning and using software for estimating service documentation, scheduling, and customer management.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and take ownership of assigned work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Organized and comfortable preparing estimates, following up with customers, and documenting work thoroughly.
  • Willingness to complete ongoing manufacturer and product training.
