Medical Assistant

Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (1-Year Position)

Position Summary

Merced Heart Associates is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) for a one-year temporary position. This role supports clinical and administrative operations with a primary focus on procedure scheduling and medical records coordination, while also assisting with general clinical workflows as needed.

This position is expected to last approximately one year. There may be an opportunity for long-term employment at the conclusion of the temporary assignment based on the needs of the practice and individual performance; however, continued employment is not guaranteed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Procedure Scheduling

  • Schedule in-office and external procedures
  • Coordinate with hospitals, surgery centers, and outside facilities
  • Communicate procedure instructions and scheduling details with patients
  • Track required documentation and scheduling timelines
  • Follow up with patients and facilities as needed

Medical Records

  • Process medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA
  • Prepare, organize, and transmit records to outside facilities
  • Maintain accurate tracking and documentation
  • Follow up on outstanding records and requests

Clinical & Administrative Support

  • Support providers and clinical staff with daily workflows
  • Assist with coordination of patient care activities
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, staff, and outside facilities
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation in ECW
  • Ensure patient information is current and properly documented
  • Follow established office workflows and policies

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Provide cross-departmental support when needed
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications

Required:


  • Medical Assistant experience
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced medical office
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements

Preferred:


  • Experience with ECW
  • Experience with procedure scheduling and/or medical records
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus, but not required

Salary
