Memphis Toast is seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen and oversee food preparation and service.
Description
Responsibilities:
- Developing and updating menus in line with the overall vision and mission
- Overseeing all aspects of food production, including but not limited to kitchen operations, food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation
- Ensuring that all dishes are made to high-quality standards of taste, presentation, and safety
- Hiring, supervising, and training kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks
- Staying up to date with industry trends and incorporating new techniques and recipes into the menu
- Creating and implementing cost-effective strategies for food production and waste reduction
- Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed
- Managing food costs and ensuring profitability of the food service operation
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and complying with all health and safety regulations
- Collaborating with the owner on new food initiatives and events
- Building/maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Contributing to the positive work environment and culture
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience as a head chef or executive chef in a high-volume kitchen environment
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage kitchen operations effectively
- Strong understanding of kitchen systems, procedures, and recipes
- Deep understanding of nutrition, culinary techniques, and ingredient pairing
- Excellent culinary skills and creativity in developing new dishes and menus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques
- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow as a chef
