MeloMelo Kava Bar is part of a small but growing chain that offers an alcohol-free environment for community connection. 

Our mission is to introduce Western audiences to the many benefits of kava, provide education on its culture, history, botany, and chemistry, and in doing so, build community around this plant. 

With a small and dedicated team, we offer significant opportunities for growth. We are service oriented, with a start-up mindset, and are looking for a manager who can pivot and adapt quickly without being micro-managed.

We have a limited menu, focused on one thing: kava. We do not serve food, and we don’t carry a lot of other inventory.

The Role:

We're introducing kava - a traditional non-intoxicating, relaxing beverage from the South Pacific to western consumers, creating spaces to enjoy kava's benefits, and building community around this magical plant.

The Shift Lead supports the Assistant General manager and the General Manager with operational duties. This includes employee training, point of sales administration, product quality control, enforcement of operating procedure and operations standards. Additionally, the role requires a strong presence behind the bar, with the flexibility to step in as needed to cover breaks or scheduling gaps from time to time.

What You Bring:

As the Shift Lead, you will train and support staff and ensure adherence to operating standards as set by the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager and MeloMelo leadership. You will uphold these standards in customer service, cleanliness, attention to detail, and operational knowledge behind the bar. You will also maintain continuous feedback with management and bartenders to ensure that performance and operations goals are being met. You will also be responsible for coordinating labor costs in relation to daily sales goals, and adjust the schedule that has been set by management accordingly. 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Shift Lead, you will assist the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager with the following operational responsibilities: 

• General bartending responsibilities.
• Execution of onboarding and training programs for new and existing staff.
• Offering guidance and training to other employees, maintaining a high standard of leadership and professionalism.
• Ensuring quality control and cleanliness standards are consistently being met.
• Overseeing bar operations to ensure efficiency and quality service.
• Satisfactory resolution of customer concerns and ensuring positive customer interactions. 
• Maintain continuous feedback with management and bartenders to ensure that performance and operations goals are being met.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and carry short distances.
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally work at a desk.
• Fine motor skills for operating tools and equipment.

Hourly Compensation Range:

Starting rate will vary based on previous experience and relevant skills/knowledge set.

Job Type: Part-Time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Projected Hours: 8-24 hours per week
