Working with the Senior Designer and design team, the Junior Designer acts as administrative and design support on all phases of high-end, residential interior design projects. This is a non- exempt position that is eligible for overtime and requires some knowledge of interior design and a strong ability to organize information, manage time and documentation, and follow through on assignments under deadline pressure.

Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Senior Designer, and design team with various design and administrative tasks related to all phases of high-end, residential interior design from initial planning through project completion
  • Research and supply pricing information to Project Manager and Senior Designers for furnishings budgets
  • Gather detailed information, finish samples, specifications and quotes for preparation of accurate design proposals
  • Upload information, confirm design details with design team
  • Develop proposals in Studio Designer
  • Support the design team in the preparation of floor, space, and furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD, and the production of hand drawings or computer renderings that communicate design intent
  • Support the design team in the preparation and maintenance of interior design plan documents such as specifications, and schedules
  • Assist the design team with product sourcing and researching products, finishes/materials, fabrics, furniture, etc.
  • Assist with preparing client presentations and image sheets
  • Assist with punch-lists for assigned projects
  • Assist with preparation for furnishings installations
  • Project errands such as picking up and returning samples, as needed
  • Develop long-term relationships with design showrooms and vendors
  • Maintain all project-related information electronic folders, and Studio Designer
  • Assist in the weekly maintenance of the office
  • Oversee intern to maintain design library
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Record daily time billing in Studio Designer

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of zero – four years of experience in the interior design/architecture field
  • Bachelor's Degree (or working on a degree) in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, or equivalent
  • Proficiency with software & technical skills:  Auto CAD, Gmail, Google Calendar, Mac applications, Office Suite, Other software a plus: Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), SketchUp, other 3-D rendering program. Hand Rendering skills also a plus
  • Knowledge of - or ability to quickly learn – Studio Designer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, accurate and consistent in all paperwork and data management
  • Creative problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to interact with peers, management, and other staff in a professional manner
