Detailed Job Description
Institutional Supply Acquisition
- Identify and secure relationships with producers of resins, additives, intermediates, and specialty chemicals used in CASE applications
- Position Matium as a structured outlet for excess production, off-spec material, and spot availability
- Understand formulation constraints, certification requirements, and performance specifications
- Convert traditional relationship-driven spot transactions into auction-enabled marketplace flow
- Develop adoption strategies that preserve brand integrity and technical standards
Demand Aggregation & Liquidity Building
- Map downstream demand across formulators, manufacturers, and specialty compounders
- Aggregate fragmented buyers into competitive auction environments
- Collaborate with Verified Agents to ensure technical specs are clearly communicated and matched
- Develop liquidity playbooks for key categories (polyols, isocyanates, acrylics, tackifiers, elastomers, etc.)
Technical & Market Intelligence
- Maintain awareness of formulation trends, regulatory shifts, and substitution risks
- Identify arbitrage and timing opportunities across grades and geographies
- Provide vertical-specific feedback to Product and Analytics teams to refine matchmaking accuracy
- Ensure marketplace workflows account for spec-driven decision-making
Vertical Ownership & Expansion
- Own GMV growth within the CASE vertical
- Identify high-margin and high-velocity subsegments
- Establish anchor suppliers to stabilize recurring liquidity
- Represent Matium at industry events and technical conferences
What Success Looks Like
- Producers use Matium as a structured outlet for spot and excess material
- Spec-driven buyers confidently transact through verified workflows
- Auction density increases without compromising technical compliance
- Repeat transaction volume scales within high-value specialty categories
- CASE vertical becomes a durable, recurring contributor to GMV
Desired Skills & Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in CASE materials, specialty chemicals, or formulation-driven markets
- Strong understanding of material specifications, compliance requirements, and substitution risk
- Existing relationships with producers, formulators, or specialty distributors preferred
- Demonstrated ability to close institutional commercial agreements
- Strategic mindset with ability to identify inefficiencies in spot and excess flow
- Strong negotiation and commercial execution skills
- Comfortable operating in high-growth, infrastructure-building environments
Compensation
- Base Salary: $170,000 – $210,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Performance-based commission tied to GMV growth
