General Description:
Responsible for using equipment to manufacture our beauty and cosmetic products ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Receives bulk materials, weighs and subdivides materials in strict accordance with manufacturing procedures; loads into automatic equipment and makes necessary adjustments to ensure proper mix of ingredients, and monitors the production flow to ensure finished product meets our production standards.
- Ensures equipment and working area meets all required standards; uses small hand tools to disassemble pumps, receivers, mixers and other equipment, cleans according to set procedures, and reassembles prior to mixing a new batch of product.
- Maintains required logs and other batch records accurately and completely; uses computer to enter data, and make routine inquiries as necessary.
- Package and filter finished goods and replenish raw material inventory as necessary.
- Operates drum lifter to lift drums in production process, fork lift and/or pallet jack to transport raw materials or finished product, and scales to weigh bulk materials when necessary.
- Prepares outside vendors orders; gathers materials in accordance with schedules; transfers products to new containers as necessary; and packages for shipping.
- Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
- Forklift certification is required within three months of attaining this job.
- 6 months of manufacturing experience. Prior experience as a compounder or blending operator is preferred.
- A complete working knowledge of the manufacturing procedures is preferred.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, safety and effectively working with other members of the department.
- Ability to weigh ingredients accurately utilizing tools such as a floor scale and flow meter
- Fluent English communication skills to read/understand policies and procedures, following instructions precisely to ensure product is manufactured to specific standards, maintain written logs and records, perform data entry, understand verbal instructions, and discuss problems with supervisors and other staff.
- Have manual dexterity to manipulate controls and disassemble/assemble equipment.
- Accurate basic math skills.
Physical Requirements
Stand/walk for most of the shift, flexibility to move from one area to another. Employees sit/stand to maintain records and use computer. Perform repetitive duties for long periods. Intermittently move drums weighing up to 600 pounds (uses drum lifter, but some pulling/pushing required) and lift large containers weighing up to 50 pounds. Periodically operate a forklift.
