About Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital

Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal hospital and Dog Camp located in Waynesville, in the heart of Western North Carolina. Founded by Dr. Brian Birthright, our team is committed to practicing the best medicine for the pets of Western North Carolina, and we're proud to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) — the only organization that accredits veterinary practices adhering to the highest standards of veterinary care. What makes us stand out is that we're more than a hospital. Our Dog Camp provides daily enrichment and socialization for dogs, along with grooming and boarding for both dogs and cats — all backed by the expertise and safety of an on-site veterinary team. Pets who stay and play with us get the best of both worlds: fun, structured days and medical professionals just steps away. Our mission is to nurture and preserve the human-animal bond by providing compassionate, expert, and affordable care — from a pet's first adventure through a long and healthy life. We treat every pet who walks through our doors as if they were our own, and we've built a friendly, supportive team environment that encourages continual learning and personal growth. If you love animals and want to work somewhere that feels like family, you'll fit right in at Maple Tree.

Description

What You'll Do

Supervise and engage with dogs during group play, monitoring behavior and body language to keep playtime safe and fun. Feed, water, and walk boarding and day care guests according to each pet's individual care instructions. Administer basic medications with training and supervision. Clean and sanitize kennels, play yards, and common areas throughout the day. Do laundry, dishes, and general facility upkeep. Monitor pets for signs of illness, stress, or injury and report concerns to the veterinary team promptly. Check campers in and out, and communicate with pet owners in a friendly, professional manner. Take photos and share updates so owners can see their pets having a great time.

What We're Looking For

A genuine love of dogs (and cats!) and comfort handling pets of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs. Reliability and punctuality — our campers depend on us every day, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. Strong attention to detail when following feeding and medication instructions. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well with a team. Prior kennel, day care, or animal care experience is a plus but not required — we'll train the right person.

Competitive hourly pay ($12.00–$15.00/hour based on experience). Hands-on training and growth opportunities within a veterinary hospital setting. Employee discounts on veterinary services and pet care. A supportive, animal-loving team environment.
