Job Summary:


The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates press brake machinery to bend, form, and shape metal according to blueprints and specifications. He or she is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the fabricated parts while adhering to safety protocols. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and physical dexterity. 


Duties/ Responsibilities:


  • Setup and operation of the press brake machine, including installing tooling, adjusting back gauges, and calibrating the machine for specific jobs. 
  • Material handling and safe positioning, loading and unloading of metal sheets and plates, often requiring the ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials. 
  • Blueprint reading, interpretation and understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and production specifications to ensure accurate bending and forming. 
  • Quality control inspection of finished parts for defects, dimensions, and adherence to quality standards, using precision measuring instruments. 
  • Routine maintenance and safety performance of the press brake, maintain a clean and organized work area, and adhere to safety regulations. 
  • Identify and resolve minor machine issues, troubleshooting, and making adjustments as needed. 
  • Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively with supervisors, and contribute to a positive work environment. 


Required Skills/ Abilities:


  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating press brake machines, understanding bending techniques, and the use of measuring tools. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain precision and accuracy in all bending and shaping tasks. 
  • Physical dexterity, strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle metal sheets and operate machinery safely. 
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve minor machine issues and make necessary adjustments. 
  • Communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. 
  • Safety awareness and the understanding and adherence to safety protocols and procedures. 
  • Willingness and ability to perform additional tasks as needed.


Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma with vocational training or equivalent experience of 5 years or more 
  • May require additional training or certifications. 


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more at times.


Salary

$24 - $26 per hour
