Job Details

At Manufacturing Corporation of America, the Machinist is responsible for supporting the various production processes required to manufacture our final products. This role will fully support providing high quality products in the required customer timeframe. This will be a result of following all Standardized Work processes.


Primary Purpose

The ideal candidate will utilize their physical abilities and knowledge to operate and maintain machinery and support continuous improvement activities through collaboration with fellow Team Members.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and Operate Machinery
  • Tooling
  • Work with various materials
  • Hold tight tolerances
  • Utilize calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Operate various conventional or numerically controlled machining centers on semi-complex jobs.
  • Work from sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, or engineering, tooling, or equipment information.
  • Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Works with limited guidance in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpret reports and use job specific software applications.
  • Knowledge of lasers is preferred


Working Conditions

Work consists of a significant amount of manual work to ensure production quality and reduce manufacturing errors. The Machinist will work towards quality, delivery, and safety goals established by the company and within the department, and his or her compensation will be tied to the achievement of those goals. Depending on the process being worked within the department, significant periods of standing (typically more than half of a workday), the ability to lift more than 50 pounds, as well as a high attention to detail could be required.


Job Specifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job:

  • High School degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Basic knowledge of operating Mac and Windows computers
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and conduct daily physical activity is required on certain processes
  • Skilled with hand tools
  • Soldering experience
  • Epoxy dispensing experience
  • Ability to torque
  • Detail oriented with ability to follow operating procedures
  • Has working knowledge of machine shop mathematics and ability to effectively read measurements
  • Ability to identify areas of process improvement, and communicate those observations with manager
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members
  • Desire to grow in Machining field


Salary

$19 - $22 per hour
