Description

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Create new designs, develop, improve and refine existing product designs through research, analysis, and the application of engineering principles based on feedback and new requirements. 
  •  Build and test prototypes to evaluate functionality, usability, and performance. 
  •  Utilize CAD software to create detailed technical drawings, plans and 3D models.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams, collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders, engineers, designers, clients, colleagues, and manufacturing professionals to ensure designs are feasible and meet requirements. 
  • Test prototypes, identify and resolve design-related issues, ensure products are reliable, efficient, and cost-effective to validate and identify areas for improvement.
  • Adhere to safety standards, regulations, and industry guidelines to ensure product safety and compliance. 
  • Meet design requirements to ensure that designs meet specific functional, aesthetic, and performance requirements. 
  • Prepare technical reports, manuals, and specifications to document the design process and product specifications. 
  • Research and selecting appropriate materials for design based on performance, cost, and additional factors. 
  • Analyze data from tests, evaluate design solutions, and make informed decisions based on evidence. 


Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university


Qualifications:


Required:

  • CAD software proficiency: Strong knowledge of CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks. 
  • Engineering principles: A strong understanding of engineering principles, including mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Technical communication: The ability to communicate technical information effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and solve complex design problems. 
  • Creativity and innovation: The ability to think outside the box and develop innovative design solutions.


Preferred:

  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to welding arcs, heavy materials and heave machinery.
  • Noise levels require hearing protection.
  • Team-based, fast-paced production environment.
