PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Preschool Teacher provides Christ-centered instruction and care in a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role supports the spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of preschool children through biblical teaching and intentional classroom leadership.
The Preschool Teacher provides general, academic, moral, and spiritual instruction as prescribed in the Mannahouse Christian Academy (MCA) curriculum and performs a variety of routine and special teaching duties. This role supports the holistic development of personal, social, and communication skills according to each child’s age and developmental level.
The Preschool Teacher serves as a spiritual guide, nurturing children in a Christ-centered environment and equipping them with an education and biblical foundation for life. The role may lead and functionally supervise Teacher Assistants in the execution of daily classroom activities and routines.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to Preschool Director and MCA Superintendent
- Supervises Preschool Teaching Assistant as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work and relate positively with preschool staff, children, and parents.
- Ability to establish and maintain a pleasant, Christ-centered classroom environment.
- Ability to be loving and firm when guiding student behavior.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify behavioral patterns and potential learning difficulties.
- General knowledge of, or experience working with, the assigned age group.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-energy environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; demonstrates punctuality and reliability to ensure compliance with state licensing requirements.
- Physically able to move about the classroom and participate in daily activities.
- Active member in good standing of Mannahouse or a like-minded church, including consistent attendance, ministry participation, and tithing.
- Must meet applicable state licensing qualifications for childcare staff as established by the Washington Department of Early Learning (WAC 170-295-1040).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prepare, and deliver daily and weekly lessons using the prescribed curriculum, including Bible lessons, verse of the day, art projects, learning centers, games, and group activities.
- Integrate biblical principles and Christian philosophy of education throughout instruction and daily activities.
- Lead classroom instruction and coordinate learning activities in accordance with the daily schedule.
- Establish and maintain a positive, orderly, Christ-centered, and learning-friendly classroom environment.
- Supervise and guide students during all daily routines, including group time, snacks, bathroom breaks, playtime, projects, and gross motor activities.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, safety, and readiness; ensure materials are properly stored and secured.
- Track student progress in alignment with curriculum guidelines and submit required progress reports and documentation on schedule.
- Maintain open, regular communication with the Preschool Director, staff, and parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom needs.
- Collaborate with preschool staff to support classroom operations, school activities, and field trips.
- Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, school functions, and required professional development sessions.
- Provide guidance and support to the Teacher’s Assistant to ensure daily classroom routines and activities are executed effectively.

- Maintain compliance with all state certification, licensing, and school policy requirements.
- Complete and document all required training and professional development.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and consistently with leadership, staff, and parents.
- Perform assigned duties reliably, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively and cohesively with the Preschool Director, teachers, and support staff.
- Model Christ-like character and provide spiritual leadership through teaching and daily interactions with students.
