Teacher Assistant (Preschool)

📍Vancouver Campus

📅 Part-Time (15 hrs/wk) | 🏫 Mannahouse Academy


What You’ll Do:

  • Assist the lead teacher in daily classroom routines, lessons, and faith-based learning activities.
  • Support children’s spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth through positive interactions and modeling Christ-like behavior.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in compliance with all Washington licensing and health regulations.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring safety during classroom, outdoor, and transition periods.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, hand washing, and other health/safety procedures as required.
  • Help prepare and serve snacks/meals following food-handling and allergy protocols.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff through encouragement and clear communication.
  • Support classroom management by reinforcing teacher expectations and encouraging kind, respectful behavior.
  • Reflect the mission and values of Mannahouse Christian Academy, contributing to a nurturing and faith-filled learning atmosphere.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children in an educational or ministry setting. Previous experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
  • Ability to assist teacher and students, with high level of classroom management skills
  • Dependable, flexible, reliable, and servant-hearted
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to connect with students and families from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual a plus.
  • Must demonstrate a Christ-centered attitude and a heart for serving children and families.
  • Active Christian faith and alignment with school’s mission.
  • Active member in good standing of Mannahouse or like-minded church, including consistent attendance, ministry participation, and tithing.


Required Skills:

  • Child Guidance & Supervision: Ability to monitor children closely, anticipate unsafe situations, and use positive guidance techniques that promote kindness, respect, and responsibility. 
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe sleep, sanitation, diapering/toileting, and handwashing procedures, as well as emergency preparedness and classroom safety. 
  • Communication: Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff in a warm, professional, and faith-based manner. 
  • Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators, supporting the classroom vision and maintaining consistency in routines and expectations. 
  • Organization & Reliability: Ability to manage time, follow daily schedules, and complete assigned tasks independently and efficiently. 
  • Emotional Maturity: Demonstrates patience, empathy, and calmness when guiding children or handling challenging behaviors. 
  • Cultural & Developmental Sensitivity: Recognizes and respects the developmental stages and diverse backgrounds of all children and families. 
  • Faith Integration: Comfortable incorporating Christian principles, prayer, and worship moments into daily classroom routines and interactions. 
  • Professionalism: Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining confidentiality, ethical conduct, and compliance with Washington licensing requirements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Meet Washington Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) standards for employment in a licensed early childhood center.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Current Washington Food Handler’s Card (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Completion of the following required state trainings (or willingness to complete prior to hire): Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety; Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN); Safe Sleep for Infants (if applicable to classroom); Introduction to Child Care Licensing
