Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused School Bus Driver to operate a 48-passenger bus for our Portland and Vancouver campuses. This position involves transporting students and staff for daily routes, field trips, athletic events, and other school-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a 48-passenger school bus in compliance with all traffic laws and school policies
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensure safe loading, unloading, and supervision of students
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly bus environment
• Follow assigned routes and schedules, adjusting for traffic or weather as needed
• Complete required logs and reports
• Communicate professionally with school staff, students, and families

Requirements

• Meet all state and federal legal requirements to operate a school bus transporting K–12 students
• Hold the appropriate Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as required by law, with passenger and school bus endorsements
• Satisfy all medical, safety, and insurance eligibility requirements
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Maintain a clean driving record
• Pass background check, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening
• Previous school bus or large passenger vehicle experience
• Strong commitment to student safety
• Comfortable working with K-12 school-aged children

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
• Ability to assist students as needed during boarding and unloading
• Ability to perform vehicle safety checks and physically conduct safety responses as needed

Schedule

• Hours may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends, depending on school needs and events

Staff Benefit

• Current staff applying for the bus position, will be provided the opportunity for MCA paid training to acquire a CDL.
