Position Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of dispensary operations, team performance, customer experience, and regulatory compliance for their assigned location. This role drives sales performance, develops store employees, ensures operational excellence, and maintains compliance with all state cannabis regulations and company policies. Store Managers serve as business leaders within Mango by creating high-performing teams, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and ensuring their store operates safely, efficiently, and profitably. 


Key Responsibilities

Store Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop Assistant Managers, Key Holders, Lead Budtenders, and Budtenders
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development
  • Conduct regular coaching conversations, performance reviews, and corrective action when necessary
  • Build strong team culture focused on accountability, engagement, and customer service
  • Manage staffing levels to support operational needs and labor efficiency
  • Support succession planning and internal talent development

Sales Performance & Business Results

  • Drive store sales performance and achievement of revenue goals
  • Monitor key performance metrics including sales, labor, transactions, basket size, and product mix
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
  • Execute promotions, product launches, and company initiatives effectively
  • Partner with leadership to develop action plans for underperforming areas

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, organization, and execution
  • Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are consistently followed
  • Manage scheduling and labor planning
  • Ensure store equipment, systems, and operational tools remain functional
  • Resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively
  • Maintain strong communication with cross-functional departments including HR, marketing, purchasing, compliance, and IT

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with all state cannabis regulations and company policies
  • Maintain audit readiness at all times
  • Oversee inventory controls, product security, and transaction compliance
  • Ensure proper ID verification procedures are consistently followed
  • Investigate operational discrepancies and compliance concerns
  • Partner with compliance teams during audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Maintain required store documentation and reporting

Inventory & Financial Management

  • Oversee inventory accuracy, product receiving, transfers, and cycle counts
  • Monitor product loss prevention efforts
  • Oversee cash handling procedures, deposits, and financial accountability processes
  • Partner with purchasing teams to manage inventory levels and product availability
  • Ensure proper product handling and storage standards are maintained

Customer Experience

  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently delivered
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally
  • Build a strong customer-focused culture within the store
  • Ensure teams maintain strong product knowledge and service standards

Leadership Communication & Partnership

  • Partner with regional and corporate leadership to execute company initiatives
  • Provide leadership with operational updates, staffing concerns, and performance insights
  • Support new store openings, training initiatives, and operational improvements as needed

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations, compliance requirements, and business needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of retail, hospitality, or customer service management experience required
  • Minimum of 2+ years of leadership experience managing teams required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to work in the cannabis industry based on applicable state regulations
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required state cannabis licenses, badges, or certifications
  • Cannabis industry experience preferred
  • Experience managing employee performance, hiring, scheduling, and operational execution required
  • Experience with inventory management, cash handling oversight, and retail systems required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts
  • Ability to regularly bend, kneel, stoop, and reach
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to move product inventory and operational supplies throughout the store as needed
  • Ability to use standard office and retail equipment, including computers, tablets, scanners, and POS systems
  • Ability to visually inspect identification, inventory records, transaction details, and operational documentation accurately
  • Ability to perform repetitive retail and operational tasks as needed


Work Environment

  • Retail dispensary environment with frequent customer interaction
  • Fast-paced environment with high customer volume during promotions, holidays, and peak sales periods
  • May be exposed to cannabis odors in product handling areas
  • Requires strict adherence to security, compliance, inventory control, and cash handling procedures
  • Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts based on business needs
  • Must be available to respond to urgent operational issues outside of scheduled hours when needed
  • May be required to travel to support other store locations, training initiatives, or new store openings
