MAKE stands for Merging Agriculture Kitchens and Employment. Our social enterprise restaurant and urban farm located in San Diego provides an exciting learning platform for our participants to gain critical social, communication and job readiness skills. We operate an urban farm and cafe to provide a paid, real-world work experience for low-income refugee and immigrant women and youth. Our vision at MAKE Projects is to see San Diegans cross social, racial, economic, and geographic lines as we gather over a common love of food, flavors, and culture. We believe in the power of food to bring diverse populations together, unite a community, and educate each other about our history and differences, as well as our commonalities.

This is a 12-month position where you will typically serve 40 hours a week, normally Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will report in person at MAKE Projects' two site locations (MAKE Farm and MAKE Cafe), and will be required to travel locally for meetings and community events.

Primary Duties:

• Provide job readiness trainings, job coaching and employment services to MAKE participants, applicants and graduates
• Provide on-the-job training, coaching and support to MAKE Farm staff and participants in their first four weeks in MAKE's job readiness program
• Provide support to augment MAKE's Employment and MAKE Farm staff in any aspects of program operations, outreach, documentation, reporting and quality assurance
• Provide support to augment MAKE's employer partnerships and graduate engagement

When You Serve as a LISC AmeriCorps Member:

·      Earn a $16/ hour stipend payable by bimonthly direct deposit.

·      Earn an additional $7,395 education benefit to pay down qualifying student loan debt or to continue your education.
