MAKE Projects is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides critical social, communication and job readiness skills to both youth and adult participants in our restaurant and urban farm, located in the heart of North Park, San Diego. MAKE, which stands for Merging Agriculture Kitchens and Employment, is currently accepting applications for candidates interested in joining our team as the Employment Program Manager.

The ideal candidate will have lived or learned experience around low-income, lower-literacy, and ESL communities who face high employment barriers entering the workforce. You are an articulate, versatile speaker - comfortable from community canvassing to meeting with local business leaders and government officials.
Professionally, you are a strong writer and know how to design, modify and scale up program models and social outcomes for both impact and sustainability. You are familiar with building logic models, writing project narratives and using data to communicate results. You can manage workloads and build strong teams with your excellent time management and supervisory skills. You are ready and eager to put all your amazing professional experience towards realizing an ambitious social mission.
Academically, a Master’s degree in a relevant field (education, social work, economics, or international development) is preferred. Candidates must be available to work Tuesday through Saturday, during regular business hours with a willingness to work evening hours occasionally. This is a hybrid position requiring at least 40% of the time working on-site at our North Park location.
What You’ll Do:
The Employment Program Manager (EPM) is an important part of our Leadership Team. The EPM will lead, train, supervise, evaluate, modify and grow MAKE Projects’ Employment Program (Program). The Program team provides direct services for all participant recruitment, job readiness training, MAKE Café onboarding/orientation, monitoring/coaching, and job placement services. The EPM will also grow two new program areas: job retention and career advancement services.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) and Deputy Director (DD), the EPM will be responsible for writing donor reports, ensuring on-time delivery of grant outcomes and deliverables, and analyzing program and client outcomes through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The EPM will directly supervise an Employment Case Manager and Employment Program/ESL volunteers. The EPM will collaborate closely with the ED and DD on new grant proposals and program design.
$64,480 - $64,480 per year
