Position Overview:

• Job Title: Education Programs Manager
• Hours: Full-Time (Tuesday-Saturday 8am-4pm)
• Compensation: $68,640 salaried, per year
• Location: On-site in San Diego, California

Job Summary:

The Education Programs Manager (EPM) is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating MAKE’s various educational and training programs for both the community as well as program participants. This role involves overseeing the planning, outreach, coordination, and delivery of MAKE’s farm education programs including school field trips, summer camp program and community program days (i.e. Fun Farm Saturdays). This role also supports and oversees the design, implementation and evaluation of MAKE’s work experience and job/career readiness training programs to ensure high-quality service delivery and training effectiveness.

The MAKE team is a small, tightly-woven team and each staff member also spends about 20% of their time providing backfilling and supporting each other to ensure continuous business operations and participant programming throughout the year. The ideal candidate is excited to bring their education expertise to MAKE and just as enthusiastic to learn about farming, cooking and being part of our business operations team as needed!

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Development and Design:

• Design new educational programs based on organizational needs and goals
• Review and enhance existing programs to ensure they are up-to-date and relevant
• Ensure programs meet quality standards and compliance regulations

1. Training and Curriculum Implementation:

• Oversee the execution of MAKE’s educational and training programs
• Coordinate logistics, materials, and resources needed for program delivery
• Manage program schedules and ensure timely delivery of activities

1. Team Collaboration:

• Work with educators, facilitators, and other staff to implement and evaluate programs
• Train program staff to ensure high-quality program delivery

1. Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Develop and implement systems to assess the effectiveness of educational and training programs
• Collect and analyze feedback from participants and stakeholders
• Provide regular reports on program performance and suggest improvements

1. Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure programs and trainings comply with local, state, and federal educational regulations
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, including grant reports and performance evaluations

1. Business Operations:

• Supporting our farm and kitchen operations in a production, supervision and/or training capacity as needed

1. Other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Experience: five (5) years of experience in education, youth services or workforce development preferred
• Excellent social and communication skills, including verbal and written skills
• Must have a valid drivers license and willingness to drive
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time

Work Environment:

• This position involves leading job training participants, interns/volunteers, field trips and summer camp programming on our farm
• Participant job training operations also occur in our restaurant (MAKE Cafe) opening in fall 2025
• This position works outdoors on the farm roughly 60% of the time and 40% office-based.
• Other project management work and team meetings are typically conducted in an office setting, with potential for remote work on Tuesdays

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, salaried position at $68,640 with paid time off, paid sick leave, and medical/dental/vision health insurance plans. MAKE Projects also offers a matching 401k retirement plan.
