Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Director of Nursing (DON) in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive nursing expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of resident care management within assisted living, nursing home, home health, hospice care, or acute care settings. This leadership role requires overseeing nursing operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintaining high standards of resident care. The Director of Nursing will play a pivotal role in guiding nursing staff, managing care plans, and upholding the facility’s commitment to quality and safety.

Duties


  • Lead and supervise nursing staff to ensure delivery of exceptional resident care across all shifts.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized care plans tailored to residents’ needs, ensuring compliance with Medicare and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the management of medical records and documentation review utilizing EMR and EHR systems to ensure accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate resident assessments, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) evaluations and care planning.
  • Manage shift schedules effectively to ensure adequate staffing levels while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure all nursing activities comply with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy rules and Medicare requirements.
  • Provide leadership in nursing administration by fostering a positive work environment, promoting professional development, and supervising performance evaluations.
  • Monitor resident health status by reviewing medical records, medication administration records, and documentation related to physiology and anatomy knowledge.
  • Facilitate training programs for staff on medical terminology, documentation procedures, and best practices in resident care.
  • Address resident concerns promptly while maintaining a focus on safety, dignity, and quality of life for all residents.

Requirements


  • Valid RN license with current registration; prior experience as a Nurse Manager or in a supervisory role is highly preferred.
  • Extensive background in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health services, hospice care, or acute care environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing care plans, resident assessments (including MDS), and documentation review using EMR/EHR systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, Medicare guidelines, and state licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and nursing best practices necessary for effective resident management.
  • Proven leadership skills with supervising experience in nursing management or nurse management roles; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff members, residents’ families, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently across shift management responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and documentation review.
