Luna Dermatology is seeking a friendly, motivated, and dependable Medical Assistant to join our growing dermatology practice. We are currently hiring for a part-time position, with the potential to grow into a full-time role in the future.

No prior medical assisting or dermatology experience is required. We are happy to train the right candidate.

This is a great opportunity for gap-year students and candidates interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, including those planning to attend nursing, physician assistant, or medical school. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside dermatology providers and exposure to medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain relevant medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit
• Assist providers during medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology visits
• Prepare exam and procedure rooms
• Document patient information and visit details in the electronic medical record
• Assist with biopsies, excisions, injections, and other in-office procedures
• Provide patients with provider-directed instructions and education
• Assist with prescriptions, patient messages, prior authorizations, and follow-up needs
• Maintain appropriate infection-control and sterilization procedures
• Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office
• Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and our administrative team
• Perform other clinical and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

• No prior medical assisting experience required
• Gap-year candidates are encouraged to apply
• Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with patients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Dependable, motivated, and eager to learn
• Able to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced clinical environment
• Comfortable learning electronic medical records and other technology
• Prior healthcare or dermatology experience is a plus, but not required
