Job Overview:


As a Trusts and Estates Partner, you will be responsible for managing and growing our trusts and estates practice, with a particular focus on taxable estates. You will provide expert legal advice to high-net-worth clients, develop sophisticated estate plans, and potentially represent clients in probate and trust administration matters. Your role will also involve business development and mentoring junior attorneys.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage the firm’s trusts and estates practice, focusing on taxable estates.
  • Provide comprehensive estate planning services to high-net-worth clients, including the creation of wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer, asset protection, and charitable giving.
  • Represent clients in probate and trust administration, including handling complex and contested matters.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in estate planning, tax law, and probate law.
  • Collaborate with clients' financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to estate planning.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to attract new clients and expand the practice.
  • Participate in firm leadership and contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the firm.


Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning required.
  • Admission to the Florida state bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on taxable estates.
  • Proven track record of handling complex estate planning and administration matters for high-net-worth clients.
  • Expertise in federal and state tax laws as they relate to estate planning and administration.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Board certification in estate planning.
  • American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) membership.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to trusts and estates law.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
