Job Overview:
As a Trusts and Estates Partner, you will be responsible for managing and growing our trusts and estates practice, with a particular focus on taxable estates. You will provide expert legal advice to high-net-worth clients, develop sophisticated estate plans, and potentially represent clients in probate and trust administration matters. Your role will also involve business development and mentoring junior attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the firm’s trusts and estates practice, focusing on taxable estates.
- Provide comprehensive estate planning services to high-net-worth clients, including the creation of wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
- Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer, asset protection, and charitable giving.
- Represent clients in probate and trust administration, including handling complex and contested matters.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in estate planning, tax law, and probate law.
- Collaborate with clients' financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to estate planning.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Develop and implement business development strategies to attract new clients and expand the practice.
- Participate in firm leadership and contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the firm.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning required.
- Admission to the Florida state bar and in good standing.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on taxable estates.
- Proven track record of handling complex estate planning and administration matters for high-net-worth clients.
- Expertise in federal and state tax laws as they relate to estate planning and administration.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certification in estate planning.
- American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) membership.
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to trusts and estates law.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
