As a Family Law Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in guiding clients through complex life transitions while supporting our domestic relations practice. You will assist attorneys across all stages of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, parenting plans, child support, paternity, and post-judgment modifications. Your responsibilities will center on drafting pleadings, managing mandatory financial disclosures and other discovery, reviewing financial records, and maintaining clear, empathetic communication with clients. Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft family law pleadings, petitions for dissolution, parenting plans, child support worksheets, financial affidavits, and property settlement agreements.
  • Direct the financial discovery process, including subpoenaing, organizing, and analyzing financial records (tax returns, bank statements, business valuations, and asset/debt documentation).
  • Coordinate mandatory disclosures and handle traditional discovery, including drafting interrogatories and requests for production tailored to domestic relations.
  • Serve as a primary, compassionate point of contact for clients, maintaining clear communication while setting professional boundaries during emotional proceedings.
  • Liaise with third-party professionals, including forensic accountants, real estate appraisers, Guardians ad Litem, and custody evaluators.
  • Prepare comprehensive case files, trial binders, financial summaries, and exhibit lists for temporary relief hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Assist attorneys in real-time during court hearings, trials, and mediations, including exhibit management and client support.
  • Track court dockets, manage attorney calendars, and ensure strict compliance with procedural deadlines.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate.
  • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and exceptional communication skills suited for sensitive, high-stress client dynamics.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly when managing complex financial data.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of dedicated experience as a paralegal in family law or domestic relations.
  • Proficiency with family law software (e.g., state child support calculators, financial affidavit tools, and eDiscovery management).
  • Deep understanding of local family court procedures, mandatory financial disclosure rules, and electronic court filing systems.

Salary

$27 - $30 per hour
