A Cell Processing Specialist assists in the performance of primary cell isolation and selection from human source tissue and cellular products, long-term culture using conventional 2D and novel 3D culture methods, with the goal of generating primary and differentiated, highly manipulated cellular products. This position will help contribute to process and product development improvements to drive efficiency in the documentation and production process. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure company milestones are met. This position will ensure that products will be developed and manufactured under GLP and GMP practices and will support the Manufacturing Team with functional support.

Description

Essential Functions

·       Routinely assist in the performance of cell isolation from primary tissue and cellular products. Assists in generation of large-scale primary cell culture using 2D and 3D culture methods, in support of process development activities

·       Contribute to the generation and maintenance of cell banks and other cryopreserved material

·       Follow established laboratory methods and techniques. Participate in the development of novel techniques 

·       Understand and interpret research protocols and procedures. Participate in the development of new/revision of existing procedures 

·       Understand and implement the use of advanced technology and equipment  

·       Contribute to the development of new, custom, or existing products according to established project timelines 

·       Communicate with cross-functional teams to include Quality Assurance, Analytical Development, Quality Control and Operations   

·       Record laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s) and contribute to technical reports  

·       Provide regular production status updates to PD, MSAT, and Manufacturing teams 

·       Perform daily laboratory operations, including document review, cleaning, maintenance, ordering, and inventory management 

 Non-Essential Functions:

 

·       Assist with equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance routines 

·       Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:  Bachelor or Associate Degree in Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in cGMP or academic lab setting manufacturing cellular therapies or performing mammalian cell culture using aseptic technique.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

 

Certificates & Licenses: N/A

Other Requirements:

·       Familiarity with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, media preparation, environmental monitoring 

·       Familiarity with cellular assays and microscopy 

·       Ability to quantify experimental results and present to the team

·       Ability to work flexible hours to meet business and/or customer needs
