KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform natural hair services, including retwists, interlocking, starter locs, braids, twists, and loc styling, based on training and licensure.

• Conduct professional consultations and recommend appropriate services and maintenance schedules.

• Complete appointments within established service-time guidelines while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.

• Manage your appointment book efficiently and keep availability open for additional bookings.

• Educate clients on healthy hair practices, home maintenance, and recommended retail products.

• Encourage client retention, rebooking, and retail sales.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.

• Assist with shampooing, client preparation, and other salon operations as assigned.

• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and continuing education.

• Meet established productivity and performance standards.

• Contribute to a positive, professional, and supportive team environment.

COMPENSATION AND EARNING POTENTIAL

• Guaranteed base pay: $15 per hour

• Service commission: Progressive commission from 40% up to 70% of service sales

• Whichever is greater: Each workweek, you are paid your hourly pay or your earned commission, whichever is higher

• Tips: Paid in full, in addition to wages

Commission rates increase as your weekly service sales grow. We will walk through the full commission structure and earning examples during your interview.

PATH TO FULL-TIME

All stylists begin part-time at 20 hours per week. Stylists who build a consistent book of clients move up to full-time at 32 hours per week, based on performance, productivity, and availability. Full-time stylists keep the same pay structure, with commission brackets scaled to their hours, and become eligible for vision insurance.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Stylists are expected to meet weekly service sales benchmarks, which we will review with you during your interview. Performance evaluations also consider appointment efficiency, client satisfaction, rebooking, retail recommendations, teamwork, and professional development. Every stylist receives coaching, continuing education, and booking support to help reach each benchmark.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Michigan Natural Hair Culturist or Cosmetology license, as applicable to the services performed.

• Experience with loc maintenance, braids, twists, and other natural hair services.

• Strong understanding of natural hair care, sanitation, and professional service techniques.

• Ability to perform services efficiently without compromising quality.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Strong time management, reliability, and professionalism.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Commitment to ongoing education, company standards, and exceptional client experiences.
