Local Motion is hiring a Finance Director to manage all of our administrative operations, financial record-keeping, and financial reporting. This position will work closely with Local Motion’s leadership team.

Position Description
The Finance Director is responsible for running the business operations of Local Motion, including maintaining our meticulous financial records, generating financial reports, and ensuring the business remains current with best-practice operational policies. The position also provides general support to Local Motion staff by handling administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Core Mission Support
Financial Management
- Maintain accurate and detailed accounting records in QuickBooks Online, in partnership with external accounting firm
- Assist in the design, revision and maintenance of accounting systems, policies, and procedures
- Scan, notate, and file receipts and financial documentation electronically
- Pay bills; prepare checks for authorized signers
- Invoice consulting clients and reimbursement grants (monthly, quarterly)
- Monitor spending on grants and contracts to ensure that projects are financially on track
- Monitor income, expenses, and staff time allocations by funding source to ensure that the business is on track in comparison to the annual budget
- Prepare annual budget, in partnership with Local Motion leadership team
- Determine grant and contract funding available in the fiscal year, and estimated expenses by funding source
- Determine line items to increase or decrease in comparison to previous years
- Collect quotes for insurance, account subscriptions, etc. to ensure efficient use of resources
- Assemble data for 990 tax return, in partnership with external accounting firm
People, Policies, & Compliance
- Update staff manual with current benefits and policies (annually)
- Monitor, research, and make recommendations for staying current with best practice policies and procedures
- Onboard new employees (hiring paperwork, initiate payroll and benefits)
- Prepare and submit payroll in Gusto (2x/month)
- Submit retirement benefit contributions (2x/month)
- Maintain succession planning documentation (procedures, accounts, contacts, grant and contract start/stop dates)
- Ensure Local Motion remains compliant with laws and agreements in grant and consulting contracts
Reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports; present reports to CEO and Board Treasurer
- Prepare grant financial reports
- Assist CEO with strategic plan reports
Administrative Support
- Answer Local Motion office phone
- Pick up mail from post office weekly
- Deposit checks at bank occasionally
- Assist Local Motion staff with scheduling meetings
- Assist Local Motion staff with advocacy issues, as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a computer and phone for record-keeping and communication
- Ability to travel independently throughout Columbia

- We'll invite our top candidates to interview with our hiring team. We prefer in-person interviews, but we're also open to Zoom interviews. We typically interview 3-4 people.
- We will send our interview questions out before the interview so candidates have an opportunity to think about their responses ahead of time.
- We value the time and effort candidates put into preparing for and completing an interview with Local Motion. We will provide a $50 cash stipend to each person who completes an interview.
