Local Color's Creative Spaces program is an ambitious social-purpose real estate project activating adaptable sites for arts-focused programming. Activations feature dedicated artist studios, experimental galleries, and community workshop sites. Local Color's Creative Spaces supports local artists through studio memberships and serves the broader community via short-term rentals and events. The Facilities & Membership Manager will be responsible for overseeing and growing Local Color’s Membership in the Creative Spaces programs, workshop activations, and community outreach and engagement. Additionally, ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of Local Color’s multiple creative spaces: artist studios, community workshop, a gallery, and any future space activations. Within these spaces, they will oversee and grow our Studio Membership program, workshop activations, and community outreach and engagement. This role is designed for a highly organized, proactive individual who is able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with confidence. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe and productive environment for creatives while fostering a supportive and thriving community.

We meet our mission by facilitating equitably paid projects for artists; acquiring and developing creative spaces for local creatives and organizers; and coaching and supporting local artists as they launch, maintain, and grow their arts and social entrepreneurship practices to be sustainable, while celebrating, educating, and advocating for the value of the artist in the community.

What You’ll Do

Program Oversight & Artist Support


  • Oversee the Creative Spaces program, including membership lifecycle, artist support, and program engagement
  • Support artists in planning and executing events and activations aligned with program goals
  • Develop strategies to improve engagement and streamline processes, while ensuring effective communication and program evaluation
  • Represent the program at community meetings to discuss initiatives and collaborative opportunities
  • Oversee membership and facilities aspects of the Creative Spaces program, including membership lifecycle, engagement, and ongoing artist support
  • Serve as the primary liaison between resident artists and the organization, ensuring clear communication and responsiveness to needs
  • Foster a collaborative and vibrant creative community, encouraging mutual growth, creative exchange, and adherence to program policies and expectations
  • Support artists in planning, managing, and executing events, exhibitions, and activations, ensuring alignment with program objectives
  • Conduct space tours for prospective members and partners, showcasing the space and its benefits
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance artist engagement and program outcomes while streamlining processes for efficiency
  • Facilitate effective communication, evaluation, and improvement through meetings, surveys, and informational materials
  • Organize and attend community meetings to discuss program initiatives, policies, and cooperative activities

Space & Property Management

  • Ensure all Local Color Creative Spaces remain safe, functional, and inspiring locations for artists and arts-centered programming
  • Managing facilities emergencies and related issues quickly and efficiently
  • Coordinate regular property inspections to identify maintenance and repair needs, visiting the properties monthly
  • Oversee maintenance staff and contractors, ensuring timely, high-quality service and compliance with safety regulations
  • Manage and delegate vendor needs, including scheduling, obtaining proposals, and ensuring insurance compliance
  • Coordinating orders and deliveries for essential supplies (e.g., water, paper goods, cleaning products)
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks (e.g., changing air filters, maintaining security tools, and general upkeep)

Program Development

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align the Creative Spaces program with Local Color’s broader organizational objectives
  • Co-Manage the lifecycle of Local Color’s Creative Spaces properties
  • Maintain organized records of space membership agreements, program activities, and financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with Local Color’s policies, property standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements
  • Provide timely property-related reports and updates to leadership, stakeholders, and space members as needed
  • Oversee and inform the program’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and financial sustainability
  • Work with the accounting team to track expenses, help collect payments, and generate financial reports
  • Lead with adaptability, cooperation, and a commitment to personal and collective growth

  • Administrative Expertise: Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience. Proven ability to manage tasks, keep records, and maintain efficient program operations, or related experience

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Local Color teammates, stakeholders, clients, and Artists. Demonstrates empathy, active listening, and effective communication to collaborate and resolve issues with diverse individuals.
  • Budget Management: Experience managing program budgets, including planning, tracking expenses, and ensuring financial sustainability within a program or nonprofit context
  • Problem Solver: Approaches tasks with professionalism, confidence, and efficiency while accommodating unexpected challenges. Strong interest in evaluating and improving systems, workflows, and operations to scale and grow programs effectively
  • Community Builder: Passionate about fostering relationships, open communication, and relevant engagements within a creative community
  • Experience managing residences or similar real estate programs is a plus
  • Tools: Proficient in Google Suite, Slack, Squarespace, and Salesforce
  • Knowledge of residence or real estate program management is a plus
  • This role occasionally requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • This role occasionally requires the use of personal vehicle


Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $25–$29 per hour (non-exempt, part-time position, up to 32 hours/week) based on experience
  • 24/7 access to Local Color's artist studio workspaces during your employment
  • Monthly phone stipend to support work-related communication


Salary

$25 - $29 per hour
