We are seeking an experienced Electrical HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Manager to oversee and enforce safety protocols in electrical projects and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry safety standards, implementing HSE policies, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures for electrical operations in compliance with local, national, and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEC, IEEE).
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for electrical installations, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage internal safety and technical training of employees.
  • Conduct HSE training programs focused on electrical safety, arc flash protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Lead safety drills, toolbox talks, and safety meetings to reinforce a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Ensure employees and contractors understand and follow safe work practices.
  • Perform site inspections as needed and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure safe work practices.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain records of inspections, compliance reports, and safety documentation.
  • Develop and oversee emergency response plans for electrical hazards.
  • Coordinate with emergency responders in the event of incidents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and electricians to ensure HSE best practices are integrated into all phases of work.
  • Act as the main point of contact for HSE-related concerns and regulatory agencies.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying innovative solutions to enhance safety in electrical operations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical safety, HSE management, or a related role.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH, OSHA 30/OSHA 510, or equivalent HSE certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HSE reporting tools and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Based in Houston, TX with up to 20% travel (i.e., overnight, inspections, investigations, etc.), as needed.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in construction, industrial, or power generation sectors.
  • Familiarity with incident investigation techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Ability to work in high-risk environments, including confined spaces and high-voltage areas.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for Extended Periods – Working at a computer for long hours.
  • Typing & Manual Dexterity – Using a keyboard and mouse for documentation, emails, and reports.
  • Good Vision – Reading safety documents, analyzing reports, and reviewing video footage if applicable.
  • Occasional Travel – Some remote roles may require occasional site visits or training sessions.
  • Clear Speech & Hearing – Communicating via phone, video calls, or webinars.


Required Abilities:

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town if necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
