Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in carrying out treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT) for children from infancy through age 18
  • Provide hands-on, play-based therapy to support functional skills such as fine motor coordination, sensory processing, strength, posture, and activities of daily living
  • Use age-appropriate interventions to engage children in meaningful therapeutic activities
  • Monitor client responses and report observations and progress to the supervising OT
  • Educate families and caregivers on home exercises and routines, under the guidance of the OT
  • Collaborate with OTs and other professionals (e.g., PTs, SLPs, pediatricians) to support holistic care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily session notes, in accordance with established guidelines
  • Follow ethical standards, supervision requirements, and best practices within the scope of a COTA license


Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Alabama OT license (or eligibility for licensure)
  • NBCOT Certification
  • Previous experience in pediatric settings is preferred but not required
  • Ability to pass background check, reference check, and drug screening
  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
  • A patient, energetic, and professional demeanor
